DIZASTER VS BROTHER BULL (VIDEO OUT) - THE ARENA #ArabBattleRap

Brother Bull Vs Dizaster (The Arena)

On August 18,2019 , the Arena held a Battle between Dizaster and Brother Bull

Video of this battle is now out and being circulated around the web with people reacting to it and even non-Arab speakers are just loving the vibe or what they feel from the visuals/actions from the scene.

I salute Brother Bull for accepting and going with this battle, it ain't easy standing in front of a Battle legend like Dizaster and actually holding your own which is really something to be celebrated.

He Exclusively gave Re-Volt a Post-Battle Quote :-
"The battle was something I was looking forward to. I couldn’t write as much as I wanted to because it was on short notice and I was preparing for another battle already, but that pushed me to deliver a round with as little filler as possible. After the battle me and Diz talked and we both had a lot of respect for each other especially when we saw how much we prepared for each other. I think preparing for your battle opponent is the highest form of respect in this subculture."

Giving the fact that the FIRST OFFICIAL BATTLE that took place at the ARENA was in 2015, 4 years later the league has gained popularity and a reputation. Some really amazing battles went down. I salute the grind and hustle from the Arena team , because it's not easy at all running such a platform especially that Battle Rap is not really that understood in the Arab region yet! but The Arena is for sure making a change here..

For me however, personally, I do believe that the highlight of this battle was at (9:26) - I do believe the whole battle after that changed and became in-favor for Dizaster because of what/how he said what he said.

Watch the full battle below and show love and support
Who in your opinion won this?

Fans are now requesting a Battle Between Dizaster and Syrian MC "Al Darwish" - Will we see this battle take place?

Qahwah Con Leche: Hip-Hop on a Coffee Break !

I am a big advocate of using samples that represents a culture, so when two cultures collide, its a beautiful day for me...

Qahwah Con Leche is the collaborative instrumental album by music producers Thanks Joey & El Bles. The album is an ode to their mutual love for coffee, culture, & vinyl where their two worlds collide using Middle Eastern & Latin influences.

Qahwah”, Arabic for “coffee” represents the two Producer’s roots in their respective cultures heard throughout the album in their choices of Latin & Middle Eastern samples. “Con Leche” or Spanish for “with milk” is the bridge between East meets West, where their influence of Hip-Hop Culture is evident and deep-rooted.

They just released the first single from that album entitled "Qahwah Con Leche" - Check it out on ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS...

More power to the brothers. Lovin this. Put this on and just drive or chill, whatever you end up doing, be sure you will be transformed to a place filled with positivity, creativity and culture..

Bu Kolthoum - Wallé | بو كلثوم - ولّع

Bu Kolthoum

Bu Kolthoum has always been very honest with his lyrics. I feel its real and its refreshing. We really need to support this guy even more and push him. I salute him as he's someone who really is giving the whole Arabic Music scene something to really be proud of. He's unique.

He just dropped a song called "Wallé" and its around 3 AM Dubai Time, and I had to catch him and ask him what inspired such a song, a full-detailed audio interview will be released in next few days but for now, please enjoy the song, push it, share it.

Bu Kolthoum said for RE-VOLT : "For me I made this track, as kind of a statement to the victim culture and to the mob mentality culture. - - Two sides to the same coin, which is the same problem - We either idolize people to the point of we deny that they make mistakes and at the same we dehumanize other people totally as if they dont have any feelings"

He goes on and says: "and the other side of the coin, Im addressing the fact that everyone wants to be a victim.  only the feeling of the victims matter... this track is a statement to that way of thinking"

Hip-Hop Artist OFFENDUM RELEASES Video for "FACES"

About a year ago, Syrian/American hip-hop artist Offendum released his EP entitled "EYE KNOW FACES"  . The delivery & the vibe for this EP was different to what we used to from Offendum & I loved that. I loved that he collaborated with Saudi Producer "Saud" . One of those songs is "FACES" & as he described it " The song is a lyrical reflection on perception / identity / othering, and ends with my reciting a poem by #KahlilGibran to that effect".

Q&A with Syrian/American Artist Mona Haydar

Mona Haydar

Had a quick Q&A with Syrian/American Artist/Activist/rapper Mona Haydar who just released her EP entitled "Barbarican". In 2017, she release her song "Hijabi" which was named as one of the top protest songs according to Billboard.

Big HasS: How did your bond with Hip-Hop surface in your life?
Mona Haydar: I was in Syria this one summer with my older sister and we were staying with our grandmother. It was back in the cd-player days and my sister had brought a few cds with her and one of them was Mos Def's Black on Both sides. I just remember being so shook by that album and feeling so connected to it and him through that music. In some ways, I even ended up doing my Masters graduate work as a result of that album too.

BH: The conflict of being from both worlds: how do you balance the scale?
MH: I'm Barbarican. Not totally this and not totally that and yet I am whole and good because this is how God made me and where God put me. Just have to trust in the Divine plan and keep it moving. Barbarican is about balancing-- loving all the parts of myself and learning to heal the colonial wounds within me so that I can emerge fully realized in the path of my ancestors.

BH: Some argue that feminism is borderline unacceptable in Islam, what are your thoughts on that statement and how do you encourage women to break out from the shells and voice out their rights?
MH: Feminism is the sunnah. Muhammad, Alayhisalaam (PBUH), was a feminist. He abolished patriarchal practices and advocated for women's rights. Muslims love them some Jahiliyyah though. It's so sad. Women are the strongest creatures in the world. I admire and love women so much. We create humans inside of our bodies from nothing and then birth them into existence. God gave women the ability to physically witness creation. Women need to own their power as beings in society whether or not men are willing to recognize.

BH: Barbarican, starting from the title, we are already drawn into an explicit attack towards social norms. Do you think that its crucial nowadays to say things unapologetically and more bluntly - and skip diplomacy?
MH: I believe in eloquence- beauty- elegance but I also believe in reality and truth telling. There is a balance that can be struck where you tell the truth in such a way that it doesn't break anything-- even when it is a difficult truth. I use humor in the EP- I use rhythm and rhyme- I use melodies and harmonies- I use fun hooks and catchy grooves to bring people in gently to some of the difficult truths I'm trying to share.

BH: Who are women leaders who inspire you?
MH: I'm inspired by women and men alike. I'm inspired by amazing trees and bears and lions too. Do you often ask male rappers about which males they look up to? Just curious?
My answer is "Yes, I do."

BH: In what way has motherhood strengthened your convictions and pursuit for a more just and human world?
MH: Motherhood is cool and really hard. I love my kids and I want the best world possible for them and so I'm going to do everything in my power to try and make that better world a reality.

BH:Tell us about the collaboration with Offendum ?
MH: I've known Omar a long time and really love his artistry. We've shared stages before and it's always good vibes. I hit him up and shared the hook I'd written to 'Miss Me.' He loved it and wanted to feature on the song. I was recording with my producers JB and Corron in LA and he came to the studio and laid down his verse. It was super fun. I hope we get to do a video.

BH: Would you be interested to visit Dubai, UAE for a speaking/performance opportunity?
MH: Of course! I hope to be able to bring the music to a worldwide audience on a tour inshaAllah. In the process of figuring all that out right now.

BH: Any last words for Re-Volt Readers
x

Bu Kolthoum strikes again with an "Emotional" song "Terhaal"

Bu Kolthoum - Terhaal

With a very simply video yet very powerful lyrics, Syrian rapper Bu Kolthoum managed to get me teary-eyed on this one. His life has not been easy as many of the Syrian population who struggled and still struggling due to the war, yet he still finds time to pursue his passion and in this one he decides to sing... and it's just a combination between a "sad" yet "content" with his situation...

I doubt there is any poet in the world that can explain the feelings I felt the first time I hear this song, I am tearing up as I am writing this now...

You do not need to understand every word, just try to hear the sadness in his voice... the chorus of this gets me a lot..

I love you brother. You inspire me. Thank you for making relevant music!

Keep on working brother. May Allah bless you. You have managed to inspire so many and this track is just beautiful..

Narcy - FREE (Official Music Video) | Directed by Ridwan Adhami

"Free" which is a track off Narcy's album "World War Free Now!" has always been one of my favorite tracks and now I love it even more because of the video that was just dropped. The footage was shot by Ridwan Adhami over 5 years and it features refugees from 19 countries. The track is produced by Sandhill.

I've asked both Narcy & Ridwan about how a track like this can contribute to change the difficult situation on the ground, their answer was this link: https://www.crowdrise.com/WEWILLBEFREE

Ridwan Adhami added " This video will inshallah add a human face that you can connect to. Each of the people has a name and a story. I am pretty sure you can find somebody in their that looks like you or one of your friends
