About a couple of weeks ago. I got a call from Mokhtar Chahine, a Saudi Photographer that lives in Jeddah. I have interviewed him before but for another website..Mashalla the kid is talented & definitely has a big potential with his passion for photography.

Mokhtar's approach towards the whole thing is to show support from all kind of angles, shapes, age & gender. It was a really fun shoot and I salute people like Mokhtar that decided to REVOLT with their talent & spread positive vibe messages across the globe.

Tania Kassis is a Lebanese singer that started singing at the age of 16 & performed her first solo opera concert at 17.

I first saw her perform at the 6th Francophone Games that was held in Beirut, Lebanon. She performed a track that bridged Islamic & Christian cultures together.

Its a beautiful track/gesture from Tania that proves music is a universal language, also given the fact that she was raised in Beirut and this is what Beirut sounds like being it consists of both religions. For me its the culture of Beirut in 1 track..

Dash Arts and Roundhouse Presents: Lyrical Alliance Featuring Talib Kweli

When I first heard about this I literally wanted to book a flight to London & be able to attend/cover this!

Dash Arts and Roundhouse present :
Lyrical Alliance Featuring Talib Kweli
Roundhouse, 16th October 2010, Doors 7pm Tickets £22.50 in advance

Lyrical Alliance is collaboration between leading hip hop artists from the Arab world alongside the cream of European hip hop with featured artists from the UK and US headline act Talib Kweli.

Lyrical Alliance Artists are :

DJ MK (UK)
Rabah Donquishoot aka Rabah Ourrad (MBS) (Algeria)
Shadia Mansour (Palestine)
Rayess Bek (Lebanon)
Samm (Jordan) Samer Zaki AKA "Samm"
Tamer Nafar (DAM) (Palestine)
VJ Jana Saleh (Lebanon)

Check out this amazing track for the above artists! Its just brilliant!

Hosted by UK hip hop lynchpin DJ MK (KISS FM, Roots Manuva, Dizzee Rascal), Lyrical Alliance is a ground-breaking, international urban music event that transcends language and cultural barriers to celebrate the common pillars of hip hop all over the world: the beat and the word.

The artists will be developing new work together in a series of live sessions and workshops throughout the year that will reach a climax with a series of major concerts in Europe in Autumn 2010. The nights take the classical Arabic Mu'Allaqat poems as a starting point and builds on these to bring an event which will link into hip hop’s metrical and rhythmic roots as never before.

Topping the bill will be major US star Talib Kweli. Ever since emerging alongside Mos Def as a member of Black Star in the late 90s, Talib Kweli is one of the few artists making commercially viable music that matters – hard hitting and able simultaneously to educate and entertain, his socially conscious brand of rap counts Jay-Z and 50 Cent amongst its biggest fans. Kweli released his highly anticipated second Reflection Eternal LP “Revolutions Per Minute” via Blacksmith Music/WBR in May this year and is touring the US with his partner Hi Tek.

Talib Kweli will be joined by members of the Lyrical Alliance posse for a momentous finale to this righteous and inspirational hip hop collaboration.
